School and Educational Visits

A cruise on the Lancaster Canal is the ideal day out for pupils of all ages. They will have great fun, and learn a lot too, taking in canalside views and commentaries about canal history and local wildlife. Scenery ranges from cityscapes to countryside, and the area is home to ducks, swans, moorhens and kingfishers.

"The cruise covered areas of the curriculum such as Science, Geography, Art, Technology & History when the crew spoke about the wildlife, habitats, history of canals, artwork on boats, aqueducts and geographical features. Pupils gathered information and put together a journal. This allowed them to research areas of interest to them and further their understanding independently. The pupils developed their research and language skills, knowledge of possible career paths and they learnt to cooperate with outside speakers."
